European (EU) Law
The Netherlands is a member state of the European Union. On many fields, Dutch law derives from European legislation. Also, EU legislation can be directly applicable within the Netherlands. As a result of this, there is a vast chance that enterprises are confronted with EU legislation.
Within the European Union, four freedoms are established: the free movement of persons, goods, services and capital. Countries are not allowed to interfere on a discriminatory basis. The four freedoms are further elaborated within different directives and regulations. Law & More can advise you if questions arise with regard to the applicability of directives and regulations or concerning the relationship between Dutch law and EU law.
Furthermore, enterprises are not allowed to limit, interfere or falsify competition within the European Union. Agreements with competitors and agency and distribution agreements should be scrutinized, to avoid infringement with EU legislation. The specialists at Law & More have up-to-date knowledge concerning EU legislation; they can assist with drafting contracts and instituting legal proceedings. Our team is also at your service when you are dealing with a large takeover or merger in which EU legislation is involved.
